From Fogo de Chão, serves 4

Ingredients

  • 2 cups dry red wine (Malbec recommended)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 orange, sliced or halved
  • 1 lime, sliced or halved
  • 1 slice ginger, peeled
  • 3 cloves (whole)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 allspice (whole)
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Barware

Irish coffee mug or other glasses suitable for mulled wine, like gluhwein boots

Garnish

Cinnamon sticks, orange slices, and star anise

Preparation

  1. place wine and water into medium sauce pan
  2. Add the orange, lime, and ginger
  3. Add remaining ingredients
  4. Heat and stir until sugar is dissolved (about 3 minutes)
  5. Reduce heat, serve warm
